low country guide to eating & drinking

February 13, 2014 by jeanie Leave a Comment

dixie-supply-bakery-cafe--charlestonIn the week I returned from Charleston, South Carolina 3 different people asked for restaurant recommendations so instead of repeating myself, I am sharing my countless caloric intake with everybody.  Charleston is a food town and deservedly so.

The following are the restaurants that feasted upon and recommend without reservation:

  • Dixie Supply Bakery & Cafe
  • The Grocery
  • Husk
  • Hominy Grill
  • The Rarebit

In Charleston you can’t dine without drinking so here are my recs for definite do drop in:

  • The Rarebit (ask for Shepp & Ryan)
  • The Gin Joint

Due to the aforementioned bartenders southern hospitality, there wasn’t enough time to visit the following, but I am determined to return and these are the top of my list, after a quick quaff at The Rarebit, of course.

  • Warehouse
  • The Cocktail Club

Of course one can not subsist on libations alone, I am salivating at the thought of trying the following during my next visit to the Holy City.

  • The Ordinary
  • The Macintosh
  • Two Boroughs Larder
  • Xiao Bao Biscuit
  • Butcher & Bee

I highly advise to book a walking tour in between meals, y’know, to build up an appetite.

have fun. eat well,

xxoo.
