This is all I have read about in the past week. Perhaps the repetition is due to my plowing through 213 blog entries in Google Reader on Friday night or that suddenly every tweeter I follow has joined en mass, but I have been attacked on all social media fronts with the word, ‘Pinterest’. I finally had to investigate this online phenom in which I was clearly oblivious.
Maybe, you are like me and completely clueless as to what this must have, totally in the know, makes your online life a gazillion times smarter, sexier and successful actually is. In truth the concept is pretty rad. Lifted directly from the Pinterest ‘About Page’, the site lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.
To have the ability to create an online visual scrapbook for every facet of your life along with the resources in which to facilitate what you have culled is not only super savvy, but environmentally conscientious. How many brides to be have purchased dozens of 600 page magazines to create a handbook that they tote to every appointment from florist to baker in which to convey the vision of their special day. Now the bridal tome is completely uploadable to a tablet (look at me being so impartial and not writing ipad!) or smartphone (again with the generic electronic labels!), which can accommodate as many images as needed or desired.
This system may eliminate my issue with online magazines (mentioned in a previous post) as to being robbed the ability of amassing tearsheets from glossies to create inspiration books. But it could also seduce me into spending way more time creating my boards when I should be channeling that time into productive (read income generating) activities.
The problem is that I am a sucker for a pretty picture and with an unlimited amount of images to discover, I can already see the sands of time slipping through the gorgeous baroque hourglass that some has just pinned to her page…
No sleep while the internet is open 24/7.
xxoo.
