In the month that has passed since Sandy has hit (then demolished) our shore, I’ve been contributing to the relief efforts in small, but valid ways. A friend who is an animal owner received a donation made in her name to the Humane Society’s Sandy fund as a birthday present. Blankets from my childhood bed, a comforter from bedding 2 apartments ago, the remainder of work hoodies that weren’t offered to the fire department in the days following 911 and all the food & toilet articles that were factory sealed had been deposited in collection boxes in my building’s lobby. My cousin whose apartment was flooded beyond salvage, including all the merchandise from her charming online store, Everbrite Mercantile Co. had set up a paypal account in hopes of those who could afford to, help offset the cost of re-stocking the store in time for holiday shopping.
I wanted to do something with a little more financial impact and benefited the rebuilding of the city. I found the solution in my Etsy store (this mind never stops!). Starting Cyber Monday and through Friday, November 30th, 100% of EVERY sale* made in the apartmentjeanie Etsy store will be donated to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City. 100% of the contributions made to this fund are being dispersed to relief aid & organizations in the wake of this natural disaster.
So start and finish all your holiday shopping needs in one stop! Seriously what wall wouldn’t want something bright & cheery serving as a reminder of your generosity and obviously, good looks?!
Let’s make the future a little better looking for those in dire need.
xxoo.
