Everyone loves a before & after or so I’ve been told by my business coach who experienced her own apartmentjeanie restyle last spring. The reason you didn’t see those before & after photos is because it’s something I grapple with every time I do a restyle project.
The results are always amazing – transformative, effective and streamlined, but not always social media stylized. Sometimes the changes are subtle to the eye, but have big impact for the client. And truthfully, at times the client’s aesthetic doesn’t reflect one that embodies my brand.
If a picture tells a thousand words, I’ll try to keep the following explanation brief, but to really understand what sets apart apartmentjeanie’s design approach to organization from most other professional organizers (and interior decorator’s as well) is our talent for repurposing furniture and casegoods.
It is the foundation in how we can change the look & feel of a space dramatically in 1 day without the need to buy anything. This photo illustrates 1 of 3 areas that was organized and restyled in less than 7 hours. Little time commitment for lot of change.
The 5 year old who inhabits this room may still have to share the storage with his parents, but his personal space is designated clearly.
1. The metro shelves unit was previously in the living area as a tv stand. The tv now sits atop a dresser which provides a better sight line for proper viewing.
2. The pair of nightstands that were acting as a headboard were relocated to the master bedroom. The bed will now be made & treated as a daybed as to provide ample floor space for game playing and lego building.
3. A folding bookcase that was previously acting as a nightstand from the father’s side of the bed is now an arm’s reach away for bedtime stories.
This might not be the most glamorous restyle we’ve shot, but the happiness it brings is definitely worth a thousand words.
